Dip Dye Tank

7.05.2012

Steals & Deals: Dip Dye Tee {DIYed}, $2.40//Ebayed Cateye Sunnies, $7.95 {vender}//Coach cross body {Mom's closet}//J Crew Toothpick Cords
Chloe and Isabel Jewelry: Pearl Stud Earrings

This is my somewhat subtle 4th of July spirited look that I wore yesterday--pairing blue and white with red accents. I have been needing cotton tanks and I have been in a craft craze so I decided to make this tank myself. I was inspired by Acne's resort collection {the designer}, especially {this} and {this} look. It was extremely simple to make and cost effective. Here is what I did:

1) Purchased a basic short sleeve t-shirt from Michael's {$3.99 + 40% off--coupons are available online}.

2) I placed another tank on top of the t-shirt and used it as a template and cut the t-shirt into a tank top.

3) Dipped the top half of the shirt in a bucket of bleach for about 4 minutes.

4) Left the shirt out to dry over night.

The shirt did not turn out how I expected for two reasons: first it didn't turn white, also the bleach got on the non-bleached half. Even with that said, I still think the overall effect looks great. I mean who doesn't want a new tank top, that is designer inspired for only $2.00!?

Hope everyone had a great holiday. Tomorrow is Friday...yipee! xo

This is a great dip dye post. I've seen a lot of bloggers dye with bleach but I haven't come across one where it's dyed darker than the original. For a second I thought it was a landscape print I was looking at. It almost looks like mountains and clouds. Btw did I mention that I started following you previously?
