1. Cut two pieces of denim 11" x 11 1/2" {for a 9" zipper}
2. Pin right sides together and sew three sides leaving a 1/4" to 1/2" at the top to sew the zipper
3. Turn inside out and iron flap over
4. Fold in half and bleach
5. Set to dry {over night}
1. Align zipper with top of opening, pin, and sew the first side of zipper {right sides together}
2. Pin the second side with zipper open, again right sides together {this is a little bit more difficult}
3. Hand sew any side openings and iron for the finished product

I am super excited to be sharing with you this DIYed denim {red, white, and blue} clutch or 4th of July spirited clutch. I used left over denim I had from school, purchased the zipper {one of six} for $1.50 at a Japanese dollar store called Daiso, and the rest of the materials were used from stuff around the house. AKA, it cost next to nothing. With time and patience I was super happy with the result. The only thing I wish I could change is the size {I wish it was more oversized} But I know that would be much more for a larger zipper.
Hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July and for those out of country, enjoy your day!
PS, a shout out to one of my best friends, Kayla, for being my photographer of the evening. This post wouldn't be complete without your help!

This is genius!! I'm always hesitant about forking out a pretty penny for a stylish clutch because they always seem so easy to make. You just proved me right. I feel inspired to make my own now.
