Recently I have become addicted to thrift shopping. I have found so many amazing, one of a kind pieces that are $5.00 or less. And to add, all of which are on trend {yay}! Honestly, at first thrift shopping can be overwhelming--especially to a newcomer. You really have to be in the mood to look for a great piece, think outside of the box, and not let size phase you {I just eye the garment and if it looks like it could kind of fit, I try it on.} With that said, I wanted to share a guide of some must-have pieces that can be found at almost any thrift store. Here is my list..
Vintage Jewelry: Most thrift stores have a case full of gorgeous jewels {some better than others}. I have found some beautiful, unique pieces for a steal.
Elegant Heals: Not too long ago thin strapped heals, like the ones above, were very popular for special occasions looks. In the last few years, other shoe styles dominated. With that said, you can definitely find some elegant strapped heals while thrifting.
Jean Vest: Remember the 90's when everyone wore jean jackets? Well you can find plenty at any thrift store. Then to create a trendy jean vest, just cut the sleeves and you have the perfect jean vest. You can even bleach and add other affects to have a one of a kind look.
Silk Scarf: Printed silk scarves are on everything right now. The fabric can be found on a blouse, jacket, pants, shorts, and so many other pieces. At my favorite thrift store in town there is a whole rack with beautiful scarves. They are a great piece because there are so many different ways to accessorize them--but my ultimate favorite is wrapping them around my handbags.
Brim Hat: Every time I walk into a thrift store, I always seem to find a variety of great hats. Remember, a great hat can change your look for the better.
Patterned Maxi Skirt: Almost everyone's mom had a long floral or patterned skirt. Therefore, whenever I check out the skirt rack, I always see a few {somewhat amazing} wild printed maxi skirts. My favorite one would have to be the one I wore {here}.
A Great Handbag: I don't know what it is, but I have found more than a few great handbags from thrift stores. A few looked almost brand new too! My dad has found me two--a Kate Spade cheetah print bag for $3, and a cow fur bag for $8. Yes, my Dad is Italian and loves to shop :)
Boyfriend Jeans: I kind of like to throw this style in the category of designer jeans. Depending on the thrift store, some carry various designer brand jeans. And old designer brands almost always have a baggier fit at the knee. Which is basically a pair of boyfriend jeans if you ask me. Just cuff the bottom hem and you have a cute pair of boyfriend jeans.
Okay, so if you walk into a thrift store right now you may not find all of these items at once. Thrift shopping is always a find, and every time you walk into a thrift store it is a new opportunity to find a gem {for cheap}. With that said, you may not find all these items right away, but if you look you just with a little bit of time, you are bound to find some amazing pieces!
ALSO, the winner of my chloe + isabel GIVEAWAY is Adriana! Congrats, you will receive an email shortly.
Hope everyone is having a lovely week! xo
