Burger Bowl

11.14.2011
Today is the day that I decided to post about food. Why? Because I can. I have never been much of a cook, considering that I am broke college student that has always resorted to boxed or frozen foods. Not so healthy for you, but my excuse has always been that it is easy, fast, and inexpensive. I have always loved the idea of cooking, but never ventured out--until now! Lately I have been on this cooking kick. Every week I have been trying to make some type of recipe for dinner. It has been so nice to have leftovers, and most of the things I cook do not take too long anyways! Everything I have made has been pretty cost effective too.

The Salad Bowl, as I like to call it, was easy to make, healthy, delicious and a great alternative to the traditional hamburger! I found these Mini Beef Hamburgers at Trader Joe's in a packet of 8 for less than $4. They posed as my inspiration for my meal. The packet was a great proportion for me, considering I cook for one. I used mixed greens lettuce, sliced a tomato, pan fried a couple mini burgers to put on top (wish I had a George Foreman), and with a little bit of balsamic vinaigrette my meal was complete! I also dipped my burgers in a side of ketchup. I mean what is a burger without ketchup? For next time, blue cheese on top would make a delicious addition!

If you like eating hamburgers, or even veggie burgers, this is a great indulgence that has a great healthy twist! Enjoy.
